Billing & Wallet
How wallet credit, pay-as-you-go pricing, and dedicated hosting subscriptions work on Raklane.
Raklane uses a prepaid wallet — you load credit in, and usage is deducted from it. There's no card kept on file and no surprise invoice at the end of the month: if your wallet can't cover pay-as-you-go charges, those apps are paused automatically (which stops their charges) until you top up and resume them.
Your wallet
Every account has one wallet. 1 credit equals a fixed amount of local currency (shown on your wallet page). It's created automatically the first time you need it, so a brand-new account may show no wallet at all until then.
Your wallet transactions page is a complete, append-only ledger of every credit and debit — top-ups, pay-as-you-go deductions, dedicated hosting charges, BYOC management fees, and adjustments — each one showing the balance before and after, so you can audit any charge on its own without replaying your whole history.
Topping up
Submit a top-up request with the amount you sent and a receipt (a screenshot or PDF of your bank transfer). It sits as pending until a reviewer approves it — possibly crediting a different amount than requested if only part of a claimed transfer actually arrived — or rejects it. You can only have one pending top-up request at a time.
Top-ups are non-refundable. Once credit is in your wallet, it can't be refunded or withdrawn back to your bank account — it can only be spent on Raklane. Top up only what you expect to use.
Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) pricing
By default, your apps' compute (CPU, memory, storage) is metered and billed against current unit rates, deducted from your wallet as usage accrues. Check the current rates any time on the Pricing page — they're public, visible before you sign up, deploy, or upgrade, not hidden until the bill arrives.
Dedicated hosting
If you'd rather pay a flat rate for guaranteed compute instead of metered PAYG, subscribe to a dedicated hosting plan:
- Browse the dedicated hosting catalog — fixed compute tiers (e.g. "1 Core / 1GB") with an hourly or monthly price.
- Subscribe to one, choosing hourly or monthly billing. This charges your wallet immediately and atomically — if your balance is too low, the subscription isn't created.
- Renew it before it lapses to keep it active; renewing charges your wallet again for one more cycle. A lapsed subscription can't be renewed — you'd need to subscribe again.
Your current subscription (if any) and your full subscription history (active, expired, or cancelled) are both visible from your Billing page. Not having an active subscription isn't an error — it just means you're on PAYG.
Databases hosted on Raklane's managed infrastructure use this same dedicated hosting mechanism, with their own separate catalog of database-sized plans.
Bring Your Own Compute (BYOC)
Apps and databases on your own registered servers are never billed for compute — you pay your server provider directly. Your Raklane installation may charge a small BYOC management fee, metered hourly from your wallet based on your registered servers and the apps and databases running on them (never on how big your servers are). See the BYOC tab on your Billing page, and BYOC Billing for details.
